This my boom tube that was made before I started decorating it. It is played by banging it on the ground. I made it out of pvc tubeing. I didn't have any problems making this besides for decorating it. The way I overcame the problem was by putting the decorative elements I like on it and the decorative elements other people like text slang and album covers.
My african instrument
Hi my name is Aidan if you look on the left hand side you will see my African instrument is a bell.it is from Nigeria it was made in 1959.The face symbols are superb.These face symbols was belived that the bell had mystical powers.
My cultural vibrations paper
My report for the cultural vibrations group will provide information about my design, comparisons, and traditions for the boom tube and my African bell. In my report you will learn how I designed my instrument, how I compared my instrument to the African instrument, and all the traditions I used to complete it.
Can you imagine a normal PVC tube transformed into a musical instrument and a cultural artifact? Well it can be! It is a musical instrument because when ever I bang it on the ground it makes sound. The pitch of the instrument is high and the sound is “forte” that means loud. In addition to it being an instrument is also a cultural artifact. An artifact is something that is man made. The boom tube is an artifact because some examples of the pictures is an Xbox logo, peace sign, a green day album cover, a musical note, a unicorn, and a cheese burger. The pictures are specifically related to my culture. My culture is pop culture. I put an Xbox logo because it is the most widely played game system in the United States.
How many things do you think a boom tube and a bell have in common? They are similar of them are used at carnivals feasts or other fun occasions. How much stuff do you think a boom tube and a bell don’t have in common? They are different because my African instrument was a pendant that was said to have magical powers, if you drop the bell it won’t break because it is made out of bronze and copper and you could were it on a necklace since it is so small. The boom tube you have to carry over your shoulder and if you bang it on the ground it will break because it is made out of tubing even though it is thick if you bang it hard enough it can still crack the bottom. If you put logos, symbols, and pictures on anything you like you can make it pop cultural.
My boom tube can be used as part of my cultural experience. Young people could play it at concerts, school sporting events and even family occasions like birthdays. I decorated my boom tube with symbols from 2011.some of the symbols that I used are a cheese burger, a peace sign, and video games. When I perform with my instrument my costume will consists of black pants and a black shirt. I decorated my pants with Pokémon cards. I have a hat with a unicorn horn on it to match a picture that is on my boom tube.

I created cultural meaning in the decorative elements because i put text slang.because when everyone texts they find shorter ways to say words like you when we text we put just a plain old u.The areas i incorporated the most is probably common culture. because i put a lot of pictures on the boom tube to incorporate the culture of my group.
MY PART IN THE GROUP PERFORMANCE
The part that I have in the group performance is I help all the group members stay on beat.And we have a signal that has to do with the boom tubes and we alert them when its there turn to start playing otherwise the video wont be good.
